Global Diagnostics UK Developments – Autumn/Winter: 2008/9

In direct response to our patients and clinicians’ needs, Global continues the advancement and development of its clinical services across the UK. We are proud to have developed strong working relationships with local GPs, Consultants, Clinicians and Health Care Providers across the United Kingdom and will strive to continually provide for them and their patients, the highest standards of clinical care.   

ISO 9001 Accreditation January 2009:  Global is proud to have recently achieved BSI ISO Accreditation status. The achievement provides external validation of Global’s commitment to quality and our commitment to do the very best for the patients we serve. 

Here are a few of our recent achievements to date: 

The Global Clinic, Norwich

September 2008 – NHS Podiatry MRI Service:  In September 2008, Global commenced an MRI commission for NHS Norfolk (Primary Care Trust). The service provides MRI for the PCT’s Podiatry service.   

November 2008 – Expansion of the Clinic premises:  In November 2008, The Clinic trebled in size since its opening in 2006. It now offers 8 stunning consultant rooms, a minor procedures treatment room, cardiology assessment room, gym, Pilates studio and a state of the art Seminar Room (accommodating up to 60 delegates).  

January 2009 – Expansion of Diagnostics Imaging Services, including new 64 Slice CT service:  The Clinic now provides MRI, Plain Film X-Ray, Ultrasound, DEXA Scanning and CT. Our CT service will be upgraded in February, with the addition of a new 64-slice scanner. This will enable us to provide scanning of the heart. 

January 2009 – An ever-increasing Consultant and referrer base: we now have over 50 Consultants and Clinicians providing care at the Clinic. Subspecialties include:

January 2009 – Electronic diagnostic imaging on referrers Desktops:  More and more of our referrers now have the Global RISPACS (electronic images and reports) on their desktops. Our average examination to report turnaround times remain at less than 24 hours (the majority of examinations are reported in under 12).

 

New clinical services and treatments: 

 

December 2008 – Neurovascular Screening Service:  In December 2008, Global commenced a new Neurovascular Screening service to assess well patients and also to evaluate those patients who have had symptoms of a TIA (Transient Ischaemic Attack). This service is led by Dr Bob Fulcher and Dr Simon Shields, both Consultants at The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

 

December 2008 – Snoring Clinic:  Mr Junaid Hanif, ENT Surgeon has commenced a clinic where sleep apnoea diagnosis can be made.

 

Spring 2009 – Well Person Screening:  We hope to commence an Executive screening service in March 2009.

 

Appointment of new Marketing Manager – With so many new initiatives in the pipe line, we have recently made this new appointment; main responsibilities will include working with the Clinic’s Consultants, our referrers, patients and the public, to ensure that information about our services is readily available.

 

The Global Clinic, Warwickshire

 

January 2009 – Expansion of Diagnostic Imaging Services:  The Clinic continues to expand its MRI and X-Ray services. Our beautiful new X-Ray Suite offers patients a welcoming environment, with imaging undertaken on state of the art equipment. A new Image Intensifier service is planned for the summer/autumn 2009 to enable additional procedures to be undertaken.

 

January 2009 – NHS Orthopaedic Imaging Services Contract: On 20th January 2009, Global was awarded an NHS contract to support diagnostics imaging for the University of Coventry and Warwickshire’s Orthopaedic services. This enables patients to have their consultation, imaging and onward clinical management determined at the same appointment.

 

January 2009 – Appointment of Global Business Development/Marketing Manager:  Global has recently appointed a new Business Development Manager to the Clinic. Sandra Butler will be working closely with the local clinicians to build on existing successes and to take clinician-led initiatives forward. Sandra joins us with a wealth of previous primary care experience, including Practice Management and Clinical Governance Leadership.

The Global Clinic, Exeter

 

December 2008 – NHS Point of Care Ultrasound Services:  In December 2008, Global commenced a Point of Care Ultrasound service at Sidford Branch Surgery. The service, commissioned by Wakley Practice Based Commissioning Consortium, provides a DVT scanning service to and provides the local GPs and their patients with ‘closer to home’ fast diagnosis. The GPs have a diagnosis confirmed immediately after scanning, providing them with timely information on which to base their ongoing management and treatment. To date, feedback from both patients and GPs has been very positive.

 

January 2009 – Ongoing expansion of Diagnostic Imaging Services:  Working in partnership with the University of Exeter, where our MRI service is sited, we continue to provide a high quality service. Our Ultrasound service continues to be available from The Quadrant, supported by The Exeter Radiology Group.

 

January 2009 – Appointment of Global Business Development/Marketing Manager:  In line with developments across Global’s other UK sites, Global has appointed a Business Manager to the Devon locality. Itai Spero is an Advanced Practitioner Sonographer, with operational management experience. It is anticipated that Itai will facilitate the further expansion of both point of care services and private patient services.
